Valentine’s Day Ideas for Everyone

Indoor Picnic: Make your mate’s favorite meal or grab it to go from their favorite restaurant. Pick a room, lay down a blanket, set up the dinner, add a couple of candles, music in the background, and sprinkle rose petals all around. This is especially good for every one who is stuck in a winter wonderland right now. You will also have the added benefit of admiration for what looks like “a lot of work” without the sweat.

Hike: Get outdoors on Valentine’s Day and breath the fresh air. Girls like the added exercise (after eating a lot of chocolate around this time) and guys like to explore. It works out for both parties and you can enjoy nature. If you go on a hike to any “destination” point, bring a backpack with your gift inside and give it to your mate then. Hopefully, it’s right in front of a beautiful view. Great idea for warmer climates but do not despair if you are surrounded by snow, slipping and sliding on a hike can bring much added fun.

Dessert: You can buy a couple of slices of a cake at most grocery stores or bakeries, and ask them to write on the side any of these: “kiss me, love you, sweet heart, Happy V-Day.”

Treasure Hunt: If you have exhausted all ideas on previous V-Day days, try a treasure hunt of little gifts or sayings that you leave around the apartment for him or her to find that lead to something bigger. You can do this with just a marker and post-its.

Flowers: Get them delivered, boys! To her work or any place where others can see her receive it will make any day the best day in the whole world. Most people say make sure you know what kind of flowers she likes and if you do great! But if you don’t, you can never go wrong with long stem red roses.

Chocolate: Do NOT forget the chocolates. Every girl needs a heart shaped chocolate box. If she is trying to watch what she eats, substitute chocolate dipped strawberries or an edible fruit arrangement with some fruit dipped in chocolate (if you must). For the strawberries, you can buy them and dipping chocolate that you can simply warm in the microwave and for a fruit arrangement check out edible arrangements online.

Love Poem: That’s right, grab a pen and write your mate a love poem. Short or long will do. If you have no idea of where to begin, copy a love poem out of a book and tell them you choose it because it sounded like the two of you. You cannot go wrong here.

*If you’re Single: There is no way to get around it. V-Day is best when shared. Reached out to another single. It can be a friend or any relative. If you know someone who is not attached, send him or her a funny card, flowers, or a box of chocolates. Make someone else’s day. Nothing will feel better than that. After you’ve done the good deed, get out the wine and buy your own V-day goodies, and watch your favorite chick flick. The day will be over before you know it.

  1. Terrific post, Brittany!
Love the idea of writing a message on the side of a slice of cake ;). Hope you have a great Valentine’s weekend!

Love the indoor picnic and treasure hunt idea! In fact, I think I would like to have them all for Valentine’s Day ❤
I love to celebrate for any occasion, but this holiday is one of my favorites. The guys should not forget about flours too! If a girl likes to bake, her beau can give her an assortment of flours.

    • “The sad thing is sometimes I do imagine a deep and endless ocean”

“I’m not cursing the heavens, I’m cursing you–you stupid voice!”

“Little did he know that this seemingly innocuous act would lead to his imminent death.”

      LOL–I love Stranger than Fiction!
